SuperMediator Contest

Congratulations to our Super Mediator Eleanor and to our runner-up Jeff.  Thanks to everyone who attended for participating so enthusiastically and being good sports!

Also special thanks to Dave H, Brett, Kim, Matt, Karen, Lisa and Rob for all their hard work making the event special.

Also thanks to our Tallahassee lifelines at the DRC.

And finally, thanks to John O’Connor for being better than Regis in being entertaining, and so patient with all the unforeseen problems.

Anyone who would like to try the contest, can view it at "Who Wants to be a Super Mediator" in the dispute resolution services division of our internet web site at ninja9.org (that was one of the questions). We realize that many of the questions were tricky, or difficult, but if it was too easy, there would not have been a contest. Since we will need new questions for next year, submit questions at anytime to Kathy’s box in the back of the office.

MAGNETIC NAME PLATES

We now keep magnetic name plates at the front desk.  Please bring your plate to Genie when you leave.  Please don’t put it in your bin or brief case. We have lost too many of them and they are expensive to replace.

Gift Donations - Friends of Osceola Foster Children

If you have money or a new unwrapped gift you would like to donate to help foster children have a better Christmas, bring them to the Mediation Office on or before November 30th.

When You Need To Be Absent

If possible and if you know the day before, please call before 3:30pm.

Juvenile Restitution

Dates for the Next Three Months:
  • November 21, 2000
  • December 12, 2000

Continuations

If you continue a case, please try to set the new mediation on a date and time when you will be here unless the parties do not care.  It is usually better if the same mediator does the continuation, if it is going to be within a short time. Long time continuations, the mediators seldom remember the case. Early morning times would prevent you from having to wait.

Landlord Tenant Cases

Because we are having problems with the parties not filing the needed papers for landlord tenant cases, we need to check all stipulations before letting the parties leave. We can check the clerks computer for $ in the registry, or give the plaintiff the forms they need to get money out, or to proceed with the eviction. It would be easier if we checked all the landlord tenant stips, than for all of you to deal with more forms.

Dates To Remember

  • December 7 and 8, 2000 9:00am-12:00pm Santa Workshop. RSVP is in desperate need of volunteers to assist Santa distributing toys to needy children at the Senior Center downtown. Please let me know if you would like to do something nice for Christmas for those children who have not been as fortunate as most of our children were. It is a wonderful experience.
  • December 12, 2000 -11:45am training for Juvenile Restitution Mediators.  Please note that lunch will be provided.
  • January 16, 2001 - 12:00pm meeting  of Mediators Association of Central Florida.  Everyone is invited to attend and/or join.
  • January 22, 2001 - Harbour House will be conducting  advanced domestic violence training.  Those who have had the basic training are invited to join the morning session.  Because we see domestic violence even in County Civil Court, we recommend the training dor all mediators.
  • March 2 and 3, 2001 -  FAPM training at the Clarion

Glad to see retirees Louise and Dick at our luncheon.
The both looked great and we miss them!
