SPECIAL NOTE:

There is currently an announcement that Circuit Court Judge Sanders Sauls, who made national headlines for his ruling in the Bush/Gore election, recently received an award for his commitment to the rule of law. He is the younger brother of our own mediator Clyde. Clyde is continuing to recover at home from his recent heart surgery.

THANKS TO JUDGE MICHAEL MILLER and JUDGE JEFFERY ARNOLD for spending their entire lunch time answering questions. The mediators really enjoyed their participation at our round tables in May and June.

Please update your internet addresses.

COLLECTION COURT

Judge Arnold has invited the mediators to come watch Collection Court everyday in Courtroom 19A at 1:30pm.

AUGUST 23, 2001 - DRC CONFERENCE - IN ORLANDO AT THE ROSEN

THE DRC CONFERNCE IS A GREAT SOURCE FOR CME AND NETWORKING! Those who have signed up must submit a check for $55.00 made out to Orange County on or before August 1, 2001. The check will be returned to those volunteers WHO ATTEND Thursday’s conference. If you do not attend, the check will be sent to Orange County to reimburse them for your registration.

OCTOBER 10-13TH - SPIDR CONFERENCE IN TORONTO

Anyone who can make the annual conference for some REAL networking, I have information in my office.

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

There are now two boards up front:

1. The first one, as you come in the front door, is for letting Genie/Dave know when you are ready for another case. Sign in when you bring a case back, and erase your name when you take one.

2. Room assignments are on the big board by Jan and Amy in addition to being on the hand written list

3. Trial Agreements.

             Complete the top portion.

Only attorneys who have noticed the court and/or are present should be identified at the top.

             Complete the witnesses.

             Do not have them sign.

Leave the Issues in Dispute and Matters Agreed Upon blank unless there are two attorneys and they complete it.              Get Linda, Dave or Kathy. Tell the parties that you need to have a Trial Coordinator fill out that portion due to the              confidentiality problem (to separate mediation from the court process).

4. Note to weekly mediators: please let Genie know if you would not mind having a day off each month or occasionally if we have too many mediators.

Let me know who will be available to mediate Monday, July 2nd and/or Monday August 20.

ANY CHANGES TO SCHEDULES OR REQUESTS TO REMOVE YOUR NAME ON A PARTICULAR DATE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO GENIE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (PREFERABLY BEFORE SHE TYPES THE CALENDAR)

Thanks
